THE DATING DECEPTION

Exposing the Fraud Behind Radiometric Dating

A Look at the Facts by

“Let no man deceive you with empty words.” // “keep that which has been entrusted to you, avoiding… what is falsely called science” (Ephesians 5:6, 1Timothy 6:20).

If the title of this essay has gotten your attention that is what I intended it to do. Far too many people have been deceived by the elaborate fraud that is being palmed off on the public in the name of science. And that fraud needs to be exposed!

First of all, if you are not familiar with radiometric dating, it is an attempt to find the age of rocks – or things once living – by the amount of radioactive decay that is present. However, carbon 14 can only be used to date things that were once alive, and the other popular dating methods can only be used to date igneous or metaphoric rock. Because sedimentary rock is formed from particles eroded from various preexisting rocks, it cannot be dated.

There are several radioactive elements that are used to arrive at a date, and the date is determined by comparing the amount of the original radioactive element to the amount of daughter element that it breaks down into. For example: If uranium is the parent element, lead is the daughter element. If potassium is the parent element, argon is the daughter element. If thorium is the parent element, lead is the daughter element. If samarium is the parent element, strontium is the daughter element. And, in arriving at a date it is generally assumed that no daughter elements were originally present, and none have been added or taken away. However, no scientist should ever make such assumptions without carefully testing them.

Now, in order to test those assumptions, we can predict that if they are true, all of the dating methods will yield the same age for a rock. However, they do not. All of the dating methods give different ages, often widely varying ages. And, that should not be the case if there were no daughter elements to begin with.

When it comes to igneous rock (rock that was once molten) because that rock may contain a mixture of various preexisting rocks all melted together sometimes the rock is broken down into constituent minerals and each is dated separately. However, to date the rock itself, the potassium-argon method is used because it is assumed that when the rock is in its molten state the argon will boil off resetting the ratio of parent to daughter atoms to zero. The same assumption is made for metaphoric rocks (rocks transformed by heat).

We can test that assumption by predicting that if no daughter elements are present when igneous rocks form then none will be present in rock that has just been spewed out of a volcano. However, that is not the case. Whenever a volcano erupts, anywhere in the world, in Iceland, Alaska, Hawaii, or even Mount Saint Helens daughter elements are present in the lava causing it to test millions of years older than it actually is. And, whenever radiometric testing gives dates that are obviously wrong secular scientists will admit that daughter elements must have been present when the rocks formed — yet they still insist that no daughter elements were present to begin with whenever they get the dates that they want. That sort of inconsistency led Dr. Jim Mason, (Ph.D Experimental Nuclear Physics) to say:

“Since it is clear that we cannot know if the assumptions [i.e. that no daughter elements were present to start with, and none have been added or subtracted] are true, and since radiometric dating produces wildly incorrect results for rocks of known ages, it is quite reasonable to conclude that radiometric dates are entirely unreliable.” (From the book, “Evolution’s Achilles’ Heels,” published by Creation Book Publishers, Powder Springs GA. www.creationbookpublishers.com ).

Carbon 14

That brings us to carbon-14 dating. Carbon-14 is created in the upper atmosphere as nitrogen atoms are bombarded by cosmic radiation. For every one trillion carbon-12 atoms, you will find one carbon-14 atom, and, this process is continually adding to the amount of carbon-14 in the atmosphere. The carbon-14 then quickly changes to carbon dioxide, just like normal carbon-12 would. Plants then utilize, or “breath in” the carbon dioxide incorporating it into their tissues. And, as those plants are eaten the carbon-14 ends up in humans and other animals. During the lifetime of men and animals the amount of carbon-14 in their bodies can fluctuate (as they eat more), but after death it remains the same, except that it begins to decay back into nitrogen.

Because carbon-14 has a relatively short half life [about 5,000 years] after about fifty-thousand years very little will remain, and none will be detectable in anything over ninety-thousand years old, yet carbon-14 is present in coal and diamonds which are assumed to be “millions” of years old. In addressing that fact Dr. Jim Mason said: “Radiocarbon dating clearly shows that the coal and the diamonds are not as old as uniformitarian geology would have us believe.” (See previous quote, page 209).

When it comes to dating remains, it is assumed that the amount of carbon-14 in the atmosphere is the same today as it was when the plant, or animal, being tested died. Nevertheless, because carbon-14 is continually being added to the atmosphere that could only be true if carbon-14 was decaying back into nitrogen as fast as it was being formed, and, in the words of Dr. Jim Mason, “this was almost certainly not the case,” (See first quote, page 209). Therefore, because the amount of carbon-14 in the atmosphere was far lower in the past, that fact alone would make any plant or animal being tested today, test far older than it actually is.

It is also assumed that the amount of carbon-14 in the atmosphere is absorbed equally by all living organisms. However, we know that is not true because when living mollusks were tested for carbon-14 the test yielded the impossible age of 2,000 years.

Conclusion

Any scientist in a field that uses radiometric dating should know of the many problems with those dating methods. In one noteworthy example; vegetation buried by volcanic lava tested at 1200 years old, while the lava on top of it tested at millions of years old. That would not be the case if radiometric dating was truly reliable. Nevertheless, facts such as these are being suppressed, and those who are open about them risk losing grant money, or even their job.
